About The Retreat
The structure of our oil painting landscape workshop will provide 24 hours of instructor demonstration and painting sessions with individual coaching. Students will have 4½ hours daily for painting. The limited class size will provide ample time for one-on-one attention. Each day will provide a different viewpoint for painting. Afternoons will be free for exploring the local town and countryside.
We will be welcoming guests between 12 and 16:00 pm. At 16:30 we will gather to describe the plan for the week, and the instructor will conduct a lecture demonstration during which any of your painting questions will be addressed. Duration, roughly 2.5 hours.
Each morning will begin with sketch demonstrations at nearby painting sites. The sessions begin at 9:30 and continue to 14:00.
These will be painting excursion days.
One day we will walk a few blocks into town to paint the medieval town of Rupia. On another day we will travel to a seascape view. We will leave the house between 8:30 and 9:00 to allow for optimum painting time.
Painting and landscape topics will include:
Painting the elements of water and sky.
Friday afternoon: The final day concludes with a review of all student work and discussion of lessons learned. There will be ample time to explore future directions with the instructor and share contact information with new art companions. Guidance will be provided for preparing paintings for travel. Activity commences 16:30-17:00 and continues until the final dinner at 20:30.
